چکیده
Abstract Ultrasonic inspection is a well recognized technique for non-destructive testing of aircraft components. It provides both local highly sensitive in the vicinity sensor and long-range structural assessment by means guided waves. In general, properties ultrasonic waves like velocity, attenuation propagation characteristics such as reflection, transmission scattering depend on composition integrity material. Hence, commonly used primary tool active components engine covers, wing skins fuselages with aim to detect, localise describe delaminations, voids, fibre breakage ply waviness. This chapter mainly focuses long range wave health monitoring, require rapid evaluation large preferably real time without necessity grouding an aircraft. few upcoming chapters advantages shortcommings bulk presented, fundamentals damage detection are reviewed, reliability SHM discussed some recent examples applications aerospace given.

Ultrasonic and Cooling Approaches for Reinforcement of the Microextraction Methods
Since solid-phase and liquid-phase microextraction (SPME and LPME) were introduced, as effective solvent-free methods, many efforts have been made to improve their modes and applications. However, due to limitations with sensitivity and efficiency, researchers have focused on improving the performance of their basic primary modes. In this way, in recent years, different methods such as ultrason...
متن کاملGrading carotid stenosis using ultrasonic methods.
The controversy as to whether Doppler ultrasonic methods should play a role in clinical decision-making in the prevention of stroke is attributable to reported disagreement between angiographic and ultrasonic results and the lack of internationally accepted ultrasound criteria for describing the degree of stenosis. Foremost among the explanations for both is the broad scatter of peak systolic v...
متن کاملComputational methods for ultrasonic bone assessment.
Ultrasound has been proposed as a means to noninvasively assess bone and, particularly, bone strength and fracture risk. Although there has been some success in this application, there is still much that is unknown regarding the propagation of ultrasound through bone. Because strength and fracture risk are a function of both bone mineral density and architectural structure, this study was carri...
متن کاملPhase changes of ultrasonic surface and bulk waves through focusing measured using non-contact ultrasonic methods
Focusing an ultrasonic surface or bulk wave to a point can maximise the amount of ultrasonic energy at a point and increase the sensitivity of a measurement. Using noncontact ultrasonic methods we focus an ultrasonic wave pulse on or in a sample. Focusing can be achieved by using a shaped source or by the surface profile of the sample itself. Experiments and modelling confirm the known result t...
